Obituary of Joe Britt Lewis

Joe Britt Lewis May 02, 1927 - January 22, 2009 Joe Lewis, 81, of Pasadena passed away Thursday January 22, 2009. He was born May 2, 1927 in Yell County, Arkansas to Edna and Jewell Lewis. He served as a Merchant Marine in 1944-1947 and served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Ethyl in 1991. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post #521, Ethyl Management Club, and Ethyl Retiree Club. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena. He is preceded in death by his parents Edna and Jewell, wife Sandra Lewis, and son Michael Lewis. He is survived by his wife Claudia Lewis, daughter Linda Robinson and husband Tandy of Deer Park, son Michael Jones and wife Nancy of Houston, sisters Betty Hardesty and husband Paul of Angleton, Gertrude Richmond of Lufkin, grandchildren Matthew Robinson, Melanie Clark, Scott Allen Jones, Brandi Zapoli, Bryce Lewis, Spencer Lewis, Dara Michelle Lewis, Ashton Baily, and great grandchildren Jocelyn Zapoli, Wayland Zapoli, Destin Zapoli, Blake Jones, Mason Jones, Kati Jones. Visitation will be held Friday January 23, 2009 at 6-8 PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Saturday January 24, 2009 at 10 AM at the funeral home, with interment at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, TX.
