R.E. "Matt" Matthews
March 25, 1934 - September 14, 2012
R.E. “Matt” Matthews, 78, of Shoreacres, Texas passed away on September 14th, 2012. He was born in Westchester, Pennsylvania on March 25th, 1934 to Ellwood and Isabelle Matthews. He was an Admiral in the Texas Navy, and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Matt was the space shuttle manifest office manager at NASA and retired from there in 1997. For over 20 years he conducted sail boat racing, and management seminars. He volunteered and boated at the Houston Yacht Club for over 40 years. Survivors include wife Anna Matthews, children Valerie Thompson, Vanessa Matthews, Michele Horton and husband Craig, Jennifer Rapp and husband David, grandchildren Victoria, Austin, Collin, Zachary, Zane, Wyatt, Darby, Stella, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family prefers no flowers, but welcomes donations be made to Houston Yacht Club Memorial Fund P.O. Box 1276, La Porte, Texas 77572. Service arrangements have not been made at this time.
