Judy Marie McCune
January 05, 1946 - May 03, 2015
Judy Marie McCune, 69, long time resident of La Porte, passed peacefully on May 3, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. Judy was born January 5, 1946 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Known to most simply as Ma, she loved everyone she met and held each of them in a special place in her heart.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents Murray and Joan Paschal O’Conner, step daughter Velvet. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Joe. November 25th would have been their 48th wedding anniversary. She raised three wonderful kids who grew into outstanding adults that she was always proud of. Joe Morris McCune II and his wife Danna, Jodie Marie Schaefer and her husband Daren, and Jessica Michale Yates and her husband James.
She loved every one of her 11 grandkids. Colten, Shane, Jared and his wife Tonya, Lauren, Mikayla, Mikenzie, Devin, Will, Brendan and Josh.
As well as her beautiful great granddaughter Kylie Marie.
As the second child in a family of 6, she leaves behind her sisters and brother, Martha Rosenthal and her husband Gary, Pat O’Conner and his wife Donna, Brenda Flanary and her husband Don, Connie Fisher and her husband Joey and Mary Tucker and her husband Clifford along with countless nieces and nephews.
Even with such a large and widespread family her love was felt by all. Judy will be remembered fondly for all she did for others. Where ever she went she took with her a smile, a kind word, a strong embrace for everyone she saw. At home she was always quick to fix up something for visitors to eat, to listen and advise and most importantly to love. She never met a stranger and opened her heart and home to all without question.
Sometimes someone comes along and they are so beautiful inside and out that there aren’t words deep or true enough to describe them, that was Judy. And when that person leaves there are even fewer words to describe the sadness. What we’ve lost heaven has gained, and she will be smiling down on her family.
Visitation will be held May 4th 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the First Assembly of God.
A celebration of her life will be held at one o’clock on May 5th at the First Assembly of God, located on 316 E. Fairmont Pkwy, La Porte Tx, 77571, followed by a graveside service at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be made to the Donna Lynn Williamson Foundation. P.O. Box 1487 La Porte TX, 77571.
