Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roger David Anthony, age 58, devoted father, passed away suddenly on December 13, 2007. Roger was a lead maintenance supervisor for the Houston Chronicle. He was planning to retire at the end of this year after 25 years of dedicated service. Roger was a former employee of Armco Steel from 1975-1982 prior to joining the Houston Chronicle. He was known for his generosity and loving nature towards his family and anyone he met along the path of life. Roger served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1971.
Roger was extremely family oriented. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports. He was the kind of person who was always there to lend a helping hand. Roger was a master carpenter and even built and remodeled homes for his family.
Roger and his son Alan were best of friends. He was always there to offer advice and support throughout the years. Their family grew when, along with Nancy, they extended their hearts and home to Javier Bracamonte in 1989 and Luis Bastidas in 1990 when they came to Houston to play baseball for the Astros. Over the years they shared many holidays and gatherings with their growing family. During Nancy’s long illness, Roger was always there and never left her side. Roger will always be known as a great man for those who knew and loved him.
Roger is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Ellen “McNair†Anthony and sister Betty Langford.
