Jeannine Dingle Parker
July 04, 1929 - July 29, 2015
Jeannine D. Parker, 86, of Pasadena passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015. She was born July 4, 1929 in Merkel, Texas to Bryron Ray and Annie Opal Dingle. As a young girl she lived in Merkel and then Trent. In 1942, her family moved to La Porte and made their home in Shoreacres. Jeannine participated in the La Porte High School Pep Squad, Dramatics Club, was a Senior Officer, and one of the first Drum Majors for the LPHS band under Mr. Henry Einfeldt, graduating in 1947.
She married her high school sweetheart, Lester Schima in 1948 and cared for her family as a full-time homemaker until her daughters were in school and then went to work for Appelt Electric and then spent the remainder of her working career with Houston Natural Gas, which later became Entex, until her retirement in 1982.
While working at Houston Natural Gas, she met Guinn Parker who became her second husband on May 23, 1980. She and Guinn traveled extensively in the United States and abroad, visiting all 50 states taking photos of all the state capitols. In Texas, they were able to view all 254 county courthouses. They resided in Shoreacres until September, 2008 when Hurricane IKE paid a visit to the area. They then moved to the Parkway Senior Apartments in Pasadena, Texas.
Jeannine was a member of the La Porte Civic Club for a number of years and held several offices, including President. After moving to Pasadena, she became active in senior organizations including the Ageless Angels, Sunshiners, Prime Timers, and Deer Park AARP Chapter 3766 and other church sponsored groups. She was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church in La Porte. One of the highlights of her life was her family. She loved each member of her family unconditionally and made and shared many special memories that each one of them will treasure forever. She was our rock.
Jeannine is preceded in death by her parents, and first husband, Lester Frank Schima, sister, Wanda Merle Byus, and brother, Billy Don Dingle. Neannie, as everyone called her, is survived by her husband of 35 years, Guinn Walter Parker of Pasadena; daughters Pamela Stanford of Clear Lake and Rebecca Freeman and husband, Wayne Freeman of La Porte; grandchildren Sean Nimmo and fiancé Leslie Pike of Clear Lake, Jason Freeman and wife Holly of Frisco, Kevin Freeman and wife Kim of McKinney, and Emily Stanford of Dallas.
