Obituary of Helen Crate Vacek

Helen Crate Vacek May 23, 1914 - September 13, 2009 Helen Margaret Crate Vacek, born in Houston on May 23, 1914 to Margaret Jane Baker and James Searle Crate, died peacefully in her home on September 13, 2009 at the age of 95. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston. She was preceded in death by Henry Francis Vacek, her husband of 62 years. Also preceding her in death were her brothers James S. Crate, Jr., George B. Crate, Andrew B. Crate. She was a resident of La Porte since 1949 and a member of the La Porte Community Church. She is survived by 3 daughter, Helen Holman of Cypress, Tx, Betty Burgin and husband Bob of Spring, TX, and Lamont Vaille and husband John of San Antonio, TX, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Guadalupe M. Herrera, her devoted caregiver. Visitation will be held Thursday September 17, 2009 at 6PM-8PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Friday September 18, 2009 at 11AM at La Porte Community Church, with interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
