Corporal Lloyd K. Wells, Jr. reported to the 493rd Bomb Group at Debach, England, on 12 February 1945, as the Tail Gunner on the crew of 2nd LT Carl J. Faust, Jr. and was assigned to the 863rd Bomb Squadron. Ten days later, on 22 February, LT Faust and his crew were transferred to the 490th Bomb Group located at Eye, England (only a short drive from Debach). We do not know the reason for this crew's short stay with the 493rd BG.
Lloyd was a member of America's "Greatest Generation." The members of the 493rd Bombardment Group (H) Association wish to pass on our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
David Schmitt
Director and 493rd BG Historian
