Dear Eddie and Family,
Annese and I have been in Florida attending General Council. Troy e-mailed me Clay's obituary notice. Every life counts and is precious in God's sight. This is true for Clay as well as the rest of us. What a great reunion you're going to have in heaven with Clay. You did a wonderful job in loving Clay and caring for him, and I am proud of you. We love you and are praying for you.

Clay's is perhaps the SWEETEST spirit I've encountered on earth. My life is different in HUGE ways because of things Clay showed me during years I was blessed to share with him. He had a POWERFUL capacity to SEE goodness, and during the most difficult times, he brought comfort to others through his GREAT capacity to remain focused on beauty that surrounded him. When facing challenges that require me to tune into my best inner instincts, I can always think of Clay, remember his twinkling eyes and RADIANT smile, and KNOW that God dwells in my heart with perfect answers to any problem I might encounter. Clay taught me the importance of listening to my heart and believing in the power of actions based on LOVE. When I was my best self, I could always feel Clay's appreciation of my effort. In his presence, I ALWAYS felt an extraordinary sense of his POWERFUL spirit.
As Clay's teacher, I was faced with the AWESOME responsibilities that came with educating a child with such significant medical needs. During those years, I had the EXCEPTIONAL opportunity to share those responsibilities with his most inspirational family. Tangie and Tommy brought light, comfort, encouragement, humor, warmth, and faith in the GOODNESS of the world to me, my students, and my classroom. The energy and support they so generously offered enabled be to find ease and great pleasure in serving Clay's physical needs. Clay and his family will ALWAYS hold a MOST special place in my heart!!!

I'm sure he will be standing near the gates of heaven waiting to welcome his family with smiles and hugs as they arrive, while being serenated by angels.
