Obituary of Anna Elizabeth Hall

Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anna Elizabeth Hall departed this life, at the wonderful age of 101 years old, quietly in her sleep at 8:58 pm, on the last day of the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah. (The rededication of the temple that had been destroyed, also known as the festival of lights.) It is the last day of the lighting of the candles in the menorah, to bring light to those that are in the house. This is the legacy Mother Anna leaves behind. A light given to brighten so many lives. Indeed, an engrafted in Jew by the blood of Jesus Christ, of the tribe of Judah. What could be more fitting than her soul being rededicated back to the Lord on this blessed day. She stood in her faith in Jesus for over 40 years, a constant beacon of light, strength and support of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Born, Anna Elizabeth Johnson, on March 24th, or by social security records, February 24th, 1917. The daughter of the late Joseph and Laura Johnson of Upper Hill, Maryland, who together had 14 children. Schooled in the public schools of Somerset County, Maryland. She was joined in holy matrimony to Everett Courage Hall, Sr. on July 6th, 1935, at the age of 18 years old. During this 53-year union they were blessed with 11 children, of whom 3 sons preceded her in entering eternity; Alonzo Hall, age 3, Everett Courage Hall, Jr., age 43, and Raymond Courage Hall, age 63. She watched as her beloved husband, of 53 years, took his journey at age 73, and as all her 10 siblings took their journey into eternity before her, along with her sisters-in-law and many, many friends and loved ones.

She was a member of both the singing groups, Voices of the Hill and Gospel Associates.

In her neighborhood church, St. Andrew’s Methodist in Upper Hill, Maryland, she held many offices, but the day came when true salvation entered her soul. She left St. Andrew’s and became the mother of Non-Denominational Fellowship Church Center with her late pastor, Pastor C.P. Wilson. Later, the ministry moved to Pearland, Texas. Starting fresh and changing their name to what today is, Word Fellowship Center Church, where she was an active member, until her work was finished in the world and she was quietly called home.

Left to carry on her legacy are 8 children, son, Larry M. Hall, of Friendswood, Texas; daughters, Quetta Jones, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Helena Green, of Salisbury, Maryland, Sandra Handy (Gene), of Salisbury, Maryland, Anna S. Handy, of Pearland, Texas, Florestine L. Johnson, of Pearland, Texas, Norma S. Hall, of Pearland, Texas; pastor and daughter, Regina Wilson, of Iowa Colony, Texas; daughters-in-law, Florida Hall and Judy Hall Harris (Elder Harris).

Blessed abundantly with 39 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 62 great great grandchildren and a blended family of roughly 50 plus members. She also leaves to remember her legacy, sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Along with many sons and daughters that took her on as their mother. Indeed, the Lord Jesus Christ did bless this wonderful servant of his.

She spent her last days on Earth, having only on great desire: to go to be with the Lord and to stay in church as much as she could. She loved the singing of the choir and the preaching of the word of God. She poured as much love as she possibly could onto her many loved ones that surrounded her, and they, in turn, were able to express their love to her. There was no want, of anything she would desire, that the Lord Jesus did not supply to her.

A jewel of a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, who indeed left a lasting impression on every soul she came in contact with. The lasting memory we will have of her is her constant praying, and praising the Lord with a great shout, “HALLELUJAH”. Her favorite song, which would always get her moving, was “This Means War” and her old favorite of “The Old Account was Settled Long Ago”.
