Obituary of Guadalupe Espinosa Cantu

Guadalupe “Lupe” Espinosa Cantu. 79, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Juanita Cantu; infant daughter, Juanita Cantu; brothers, Clemente Cantu Sr., Gabriel Cantu, Sr., Rosalio Cantu, Sr.; sisters, Pauline Morales, Mary Medrano, Nicholasa Jimenez, and Jackie Sustita.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Cantu; sons, Lupe Cantu Jr and wife, Pearl, John Paul Cantu and wife, Cheryl, Clemente Cantu; daughters, Sylvia Mauricio, Mary Ann Gonzalez, Cindy Gomez; sister, Janie Cantu; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Lupe was an outdoorsman who spent his spare time hunting and fishing. He enjoyed barbequing for his family and elected officials and talking with them over a cold beer. No one ever left his meals hungry or unimpressed by his cooking. Without a doubt, Lupe was the definition of a family man. He loved his family more than anything and was a wonderful provider for them. He always gave the best advice and had a knack for telling people what they needed to hear. Lupe was a generous man, strong in his faith, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.     

Visitation and Rosary Services for Lupe will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The funeral mass will take place Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Angela Merici, 9009 Sienna Ranch Rd., Missouri City, Texas 77459 with Father John Cahoon officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Palestine Cemetery in Rosharon, Texas.
