Obituary of Thomas Elisha Baker
On Monday, December 31, 2018, Thomas Elisha Baker, 89, went to be with our Lord in Heaven; surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, six sisters, and son, Wade Baker. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Baker; daughter-in-law, Debbie Baker; sons, Dean and wife, Edra, Gene and wife, Ruth; grandchildren, Laura and husband, Chris, Brent and wife, Jen, Blake and wife, Lisa, Lacey and husband, Sam, Brandon, Brianne, Taryn; great grandchildren, Brynan and wife, Destiny, McKade, Hannah, Landon, Cason, Jett, Jase, Addilyn, Emma, Easton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was a loving son, brother, husband, dad and PaPaw. He served 2 years in the military and went on to serve 31 years for the Houston Police Department. He was a builder of houses, protector of the law and a great storyteller. Tom and Dorothy loved to travel; they have been to all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. More than anything, Tom was a devout Christian man who served our Lord daily. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation and funeral service for Tom will take place at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S. 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571, on Friday, January 4, 2019. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until the start of the service at 10:00 am, with Tim King and DJ Dickerson officiating.
