Obituary of Gary Hester

Gary Blaine Hester, of Pearland, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2010 at age 71. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Eugene Hester & Lorene Moya Day, and sister, JoAnn Webster. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Dalia (Reyna) Hester; son, Scot Hester & his wife Kathy; stepson, Ramiro A. Rodriguez; stepdaughter, Stephanie Cadieux & her husband David; brothers, Monte Hester & his wife Teddie, and Sid Hester; grandchildren, David Lee, Jacob, Zachary, and Joshua; nephews, Lance & Craig; niece, Monica; his beloved dog and constant companion Boomer along with other family & friends. Gary was born on March 15, 1939 in Pilot, Texas and grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He resided in the Houston area for more than forty years. He was a 1962 University of Oklahoma graduate and remained a lifelong alumni and fan of the Sooners. Gary avidly followed politics and kept current on events by reading his favorite newspaper, The Wall Street Journal and watching Fox News Daily. He considered himself a staunch conservative and admirer of Ronald Reagan. Gary was a successful businessman, venturing into various businesses during his life. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Gary” to his grandkids and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 5:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel, Clayton Funeral Home. Pastor John Davis of New Hope Church will be officiating.
