Obituary of Vilous Dwyn Means

Vilous Dwyn Means, 79, of La Porte, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gladys (Stephens) Means; first wife, Kaye Means; second wife, Edna Means; daughter, Stephanie Denham; brothers, John Means, James Means; sisters, Betty Myers, Helen Howell, and Merle Magee. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Louie Means and wife, Sherri, Marc Means and wife Anna; daughter, Melody Means Oviedo and husband, Will; step-son, Joe Byrum; sister, Renvah James; grandchildren, Ashliegh Oviedo Obenland, Garret Oviedo, Samantha Means, Michael Means, Connor Means, Collin Means, Morgan Miller, Kyle Kelly, Nathan Fabian, Honore’ Fabian, Rocki Rae, Colin Rae IV, Ryder Rae; great grandchildren, Grant Obenland, Abby Fabian, Aubrey Fabian, Ariah Fabian; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Dwyn was the true definition of a sports lover, especially when it came to Southern Miss and Ole Miss. He enjoyed going to all his kids and grandkids games and events. Although he had little, Dwyn always had so much to give. He was an extremely selfless man who never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. More than anything, Dwyn loved his family and spent time with them every chance he got. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers the Means family asks that donations be made to Today’s Harbor for Children in La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Dwyn will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, La Porte, 201 S 3^rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571, on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Online condolences can be left for the Means family at www.claytonfuneralhomes.com
