Obituary of Elizabeth Anne Calog
Elizabeth Anne Calog, 73, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 after a courageous 42 yearlong battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward W. and Elinor J. Buchs. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband and devoted caregiver of 52 years, William “Bill” C. Calog; son, Jeffrey W. Calog, and wife, Erica; daughter, Janine A. Toner and husband, Jonathan; brothers, Edward Buchs and wife, Karen, Kevin Buchs and wife, Karen; sisters, Janet Anderson, Linda Buchs-Hammonds and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Riley Toner, Reid Toner and Raegan Toner; and many other family and dear friends. She was a wife of 52 years, a loving and dedicated mother of two, and a grandmother of three. She had an incredible love for her grandchildren, and they brought much joy to her life.
Elizabeth grew up in Sheboygan, WI and was the oldest of five. She enjoyed swimming in the quarry in Sheboygan. She was the first of the family to journey to Blackburn College for higher education. While there, Elizabeth met her future husband, and inspired a number of family members to attend Blackburn. Elizabeth married William Charles Calog on December 31, 1966 in Sheboygan, WI. After college, her husband's work moved them to many different states including Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, and finally to Texas to be closer to her grandchildren. Elizabeth loved teaching and enjoyed a long career as a college instructor of mathematics and computer science after obtaining a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Northern Michigan University. She loved to return home to Wisconsin in the summers to spend time with her family.
She was a devoted Christian and member of First United Methodist Church in Pearland, TX. She enjoyed bible study groups and being active in the church. Elizabeth enjoyed genealogy and traced many generations of the family. She often spent her travel vacations researching her family roots, including a trip to Wales. She enjoyed running, swimming, growing vegetable and herb gardens, planting tulips, camping, solving Rubik's cubes and puzzles, and playing cards. She was a dedicated Girl Scout leader for many years. She also enjoyed judo and was active in Tae Kwon Do with her two children.
Elizabeth's courage and fortitude were only exceeded by her kindness and love towards others. She loved to laugh and to give. She will be terribly missed.

Services for Elizabeth will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Barbara Fyffe officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the cemetery chapel.
