I think my first memory of Uncle Rocky was when he & my Aunt Brenda were first dating. He lived in La Porte on Galveston Bay in a historic home. They were later married and had an old dog who ruled the roost. Rocky would let me view the moon, planets, & stars through his backyard telescope observatory, complete with retractable roof. We would look at the star charts & he tried to help me understand the math behind it all. In retrospect, he was one of the smartest people I knew.
He always gardened and shared his harvest with family & friends. I remember listening to Van Morrison & John Cougar Mellencamp with him. I spent a lot of time with my grandmothers, both on Kansas, and Rocky & Brenda lived right behind her mom’s house. Atari was new & he let me play Pong & later Space Invaders for hours on end.
Along came his beloved children & eventually his many grandchildren. I know he loved his family & will be missed by them and many others. May you rest in peace, Uncle Rocky.
