Obituary of Billy Bob Spencer

Billy Bob Spencer, 82, passed away Friday, March 15, 2019. Bill was born July 6, 1936, in Nashville, Tennessee. He lived in Tennessee and Michigan, before moving to West Texas when he was sixteen. He married Lorieta Brown on January 4, 1957. Professionally, Bill worked for Phillips Petroleum for over 40 years. He enjoyed working on engines and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Giddings, Texas, but spent the last couple of years living closer to his children.

 

Bill is survived by his daughter, Debra Sitler and husband, Garry; son, Mark Spencer and wife, Lisa; and son, Michael Spencer. He has five grandchildren: Cameron and Collin Sitler (Rachel), Laura and Matthew Spencer, and Rylee Spencer. He has one great-grandchild: Jackson Sitler. He is also survived by one brother, John Spencer, and a host of other family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years: Rita Spencer; parents, Bill and Ludelle Spencer; brother, Rex Spencer; and sister, Sheila Spencer.

 

Bill instilled a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed helping others and fixing things. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

A Graveside Service for Bill will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at Bogata Cemetery, 3rd Street NE, Bogata, Texas 75417. There will be a memorial service in Giddings, TX, at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.claytonfuneralhomes.com.
