Obituary of Effie Kennon

Effie Eliza Kennon, age 96, passed away on August 3, 2010. She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Jesse Kennon; son, Glen Kennon; & daughter, Rosalie Henry. She is survived by sons Ray Kennon & his wife Marilyn; and Ron Kennon & his wife Mary Beth; daughter Martha Davis & husband James; grandchildren Rae Lynn Shropshire, Cheri Witney, Cindy Motherway, Scott Kennon, Dishel Henry, Walter Henry & Aimee Flores; and nine great-grandchildren. Effie was born on November 7, 1913 in Marino Valley, New Mexico and resided in the Houston area for more than 22 years. Effie and Jesse were married for over 60 years and her caring nature extended through his battle with Alzheimer’s. Her strong faith and ability to be a peace maker in any situation endeared her to all that knew her. Affectionately known as “Grandma”, family gatherings were always special occasions for her. Effie was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family and friends. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her.
A memorial service for Effie was held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 4:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel. Pastor Keith Anderson from New Harvest Church officiated.
