Obituary of Mary "Sue" Flannigan
Mary “Sue” Flannigan, 82, passed away peacefully Friday, June 28, 2019. She is preceded in death by her father Willie Jackson; Mother, Jesse Hunter; second father, Joe Hunter; and grandson, Jackson “Jack” Amos, and beloved family pet of 14 years, Elvis “the Wonder Dog” Flannigan. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 40 years, Dennis Flannigan; sons, Jim “Jimmy” Amos Jr. and wife, Theresa; Timothy “Timmy” Amos and wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Ryan Amos, Haley Veltri and husband, Vince; great grandchildren, Sophia and Hunter Veltri; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Sue had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She had a knack for solving problems in the true “Sue way” fashion. The Matriarch of Berkeley Eye Center for 32 years, Sue was always the pillar of strength for others and available in their time of need. She was strong in her faith and used her incredible talents as a pianist and organist to serve First Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tennessee for many years. Sue felt strongly in giving back to the community she loved and served as a member of numerous Chambers of Commerce. She was the ultimate diva and had elegance and glam to go with her “spunk”. Each year as the annual picnic budget was discussed, Sue would always offer her favorite saying, “It’s always easier to ask forgiveness later than permission now.” Sue will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue’s honor to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org and/or The Wounded Warrior Project – Camp Hope.
