Obituary of Johnnie Louise Clark

Johnnie Louis Clark “Grans,” 82, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 18, 2019. She was born to Charles Frank and Minnie Mae Chapman of Deer Park, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Minnie Biaza, and her husband of 48 years, Royce E. Clark.

She is survived by her four loving children Sandi K. Williams of Allen, OK; Sonja R. Daily and husband Steve of Pearland, TX; Daryn E. Clark and wife Cathy of Alvarado, TX; Daryl R. Clark and wife Angela of Waco, TX; grandchildren Rashelle Burchfield and husband Jason, Danica Reamy, Dustin Hansen and wife Leighanne, Stephen Daily, Sophia Baez and husband Jaime, Samuel Daily, Sarah Scranton and husband Austin, Rachel Clark; great-grandchildren Kaden, Aubrey, Trey. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Lester Clark and wife Carol; nephews Ricky and Ronald; nieces Andrea and Leslie.

Johnnie graduated from La Porte High School in 1954 and completed a business course at Southwestern Business College in Houston, TX. She attended Victoria Junior College and Lee College. She married Royce Clark in 1955. She worked at Diamond Alkali and DuPont and served as secretary of the Community Church in La Porte, TX. She and Royce were members of the Bayshore Baptist Church in La Porte where they were baptized and served the Lord until moving to the Rio Grande Valley in 1974 to serve in full-time Christian ministry at The Rio Grande Children’s Home in Mission, TX. Together they helped start Valley Christian School where she voluntarily served as secretary and as a houseparent when needed. Together they impacted many young lives through the school and the children’s home. They were in the Valley for almost thirty years before Royce’s health brought them back home in 2003. She will best be remembered as a wonderful mother and devoted wife who selflessly served her family. She was a great cook and loved helping out wherever she was needed. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
