Obituary of Janet Bernice Jacobs

Janet Bernice Jacobs, 69, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Melmoth and Bernice Herrington; her loving husband, Sammy Jacobs; and brother, Pat Herrington.  Left to cherish her memory are her son, Heath Jacobs and wife, Misty; daughter, Patti Gates and husband, Rod; grandchildren, Tristan, Kenzie, Jacob, Maddie, Gavin; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Janet was a successful business owner and licensed Cosmetologist in La Porte for many years.  She was active in the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered every year to assist in cutting hair at the Happy Harbor Methodist Home and at the Boys & Girls Harbor.  Janet enjoyed traveling and loved her trips to Greece and Rome with Sammy.  She always looked forward to their annual trip to the Frio River where they could stay at Mager’s River Camp in Concan, Texas.  Janet believed strongly in giving back to her community and supported 100 Club, all things law enforcement, and the food pantry at First Baptist Church in La Porte.  She was an avid reader, loved listening to the Rolling Stones and took great pride in completing the genealogy on both sides of the family.  She was a wonderful cook and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.  Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services for Janet will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 South 3^rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571.  The visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.  The funeral service will take place Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Randy Gilchrist officiating.  Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.
