Obituary of Patsy Jean Portenier
Patsy Jean Portenier, 78, of La Porte, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Levoy Oliver; sister, Sherry Ann NcNabb; and brother-in-law Jimmy McNabb. Her husband of fifty-six years, Warren R. Portenier along with her four daughters and son-in-laws, Deobra and Larry Dugie, Dianna and Bobby White, Deniese and Mark Guerrero and Deneen Portenier will cherish their time with her. She is survived by her siblings, Berta Lee Vyoral, Jimmy and Danny Oliver. Patsy leaves behind beloved grandchildren, Brian, Carrie, Bryan, Shannon, L. J., Nikayla, Niki, P.J., Amanda, Dusty, George, Dani, Hunter, Shane, Shaun, Karissa, Amanda, Amber, Jeremy, BoJo and Christopher; twenty one great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family and dear friends.
Patsy was a master gardener, great bowler having bowled in the National Tournament in Las Vegas, lover of outdoors, and Bingo Queen. She returned to school at the age of forty-two and achieved an Associates Degree in Instrumentation. She was an avid Houston Sports Fan, cheering on the Rockets and Astros. Patsy was an awesome listener, if you have ever seen her in a hospital waiting room, she would be talking with someone she did not know because they were alone. She was a child advocate making every child loved and important. Caregiver does not really define the number of family and friends she has taken care of. Patsy loved God and her family and was happiest when all of them were together serving them her prize-winning pies and excellent coffee. You never left home hungry and most often left with a snack for the road home. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32, “and be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ Jesus”. Patsy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patsy’s honor to Lomax Baptist Church, 11303 N H. Street, La Porte, Texas 77571. A celebration of life for Patsy will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
