Obituary of Marvin Day Gatlin

Marvin Day Gatlin, 61 of Pearland, passed away on August 19, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Aubrey (Swan) Gatlin. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Sherry Gill Gatlin, son, Will Gatlin; daughter, Brenda Pounds and husband, Tim; stepsons, Shaun Parker and his wife, Kara, Shayne Pollard and Shannon Gil; stepdaughter, Brandy Romaniuk; grandchildren, Nathan, Nick and Ethan Pounds, Roman Bartek, and Brenna Romaniuk. Marvin made a career as a long shoreman and had retired four years ago. He enjoyed his retirement where he could focus his attentions on his love for Nascar and fishing. Marvin also enjoyed traveling during his retirement; going to places such as Las Vegas, Carlsbad Caverns and enjoyed a Nascar race on that trip. When he wasn’t traveling or fishing, Marvin enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandsons building and working on race cars. He was affectionately known as “Paw Paw” by all his grandchildren and loved family gatherings when everyone could be together. Marvin will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010, starting at 6:00pm with the family receiving friends at Clayton Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will begin a 7:00pm with Pastor Keith Anderson of New Harvest Church officiating.
