Obituary of Jo Maples

Lavora “Jo” Maples, 85, of Pearland was born on February 19, 1934 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to David Paul Dill and Zettie Howard Dill and passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Pearland.  Preceding Jo in death are her parents, daughter, Pamela Gale Anselmo, brothers and sister.  Left to cherish sweet memories are her daughters, Suezette Griffin and Kathi Miller and husband, Don; grandchildren, Melanie Durham and husband, Scott and David Miller and wife, Desiree; great grandchildren, Conner Miller, Madison Durham, Raeleigh Miller and Aiden Durham as well as other relatives and lifelong friends.

Jo was a woman of great faith.  She loved her Lord and trusted Him to take care of her and those she loved.  She enjoyed traveling and taking road trips with her friends.  She would even travel abroad, taking a plane and flying to some far away location like Alaska or St Lucia.  Jo just loved the adventure of seeing and doing new things exactly what, really didn’t matter.  Her free spirit was always excited about new adventures. 

Family was very important to Jo.  She loved her family; parents, siblings, children and grandchildren alike.  She always looked forward to spending time with them every chance she had.  She enjoyed playing games.  Game night with her church friends and family was one of her most favorite pastimes. She also loved her crafts.  She would sometimes make floral arrangements, wreaths, painted ceramics and decorated shirts for persons she loved.  She gave freely of herself and her crafts.  Her kind and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and that loved her.

A life celebration for Jo Maples will be 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 with Pastor Don Miller at Shadycrest Baptist Church, 3017 Yost Blvd, Pearland, Texas 77581.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Funeral Home Chapel, 5530 W Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.
