Obituary of Gale Christine Riley

Gale Christine Riley, 72 of Pearland, passed away peacefully September 3, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, John Riley; sons, John Edward Riley III and wife Jennifer, Joseph Michael Riley and wife Jucel; daughter, Maureen Hayford and husband Derek; her mother, Ruth Powers; one brother, four sisters, and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dale Boland. Gale was a successful Executive Secretary for many years balancing her career while raising her family and volunteering much of her time with various youth organizations. Gale most enjoyed spending time with her family and always looked forward to family gatherings. She and John also enjoyed their trips to Germany, Ireland, and Nova Scotia over the years. After living in Illinois, Georgia, Florida, and Minnesota they retired to Pearland in 2004 to be close to family. Gale was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Grammie” or “Grammie Texas”. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at noon at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 6502 County Road 48, Manvel, TX 77578 with Rev. David Zapalac officiating. The pallbearers for the service will be John Riley, Joseph Riley, Derek Hayford, Ryan Hayford, Bud McGee, and Mike McGee.
