Obituary of Lea Garcia Alfonso

Lea Garcia Alfonso, 82, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Luisa Garcia; and husband, Oscar Alfonso.  Left to cherish her memory are her son, Oscar Alfonso and partner, Paul Wagner; daughter, Madeline Mochman and husband, James; friend, Rick Rush; granddaughters, Erica and Ginger; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Lea was proud of her Cuban heritage and loved cooking her authentic Cuban meals for her friends and family and dancing to her favorite Cuban artist, Celia Cruz.  She was an accomplished seamstress.  Lea believed strongly in education and pushed her children in all the endeavors.  She loved watching Spanish Soaps on the television.  Lea will forever be remembered for her kind spirit, her hard-headedness, her fiery personality and most importantly her devotion to family.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

Services for Lea will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 South 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571.  The visitation will be held from10:00 until 11:00 am with the funeral service following at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.
