Obituary of Cora R. Kennon

Cora R. Kennon, age 96, passed away on September 10, 2010. She is preceded in death by parents, Willie and Addie Reynolds; husband, Drue; and son, David. She is survived by her son, Charles and wife Danell; daughter-in-law Kay; brother, Elton Reynolds and wife Helen; sister, Gladys Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Erin. Cora and Drue were married for more than 47 years before his death in 1988. Cora was an active mom who devoted most of her attention to her children’s activities; from helping with Cub Scouts, to serving as PTA President, Band Booster President, and School Secretary for Stovall Jr. High in Aldine ISD. She was a seamstress and loved sewing and gardening. She was very active in the church teaching Sunday School and the Ladies Bible Study. Cora was blessed with good health most all of her life and proudly lived independently until she was 96 years old. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very proud of her two sons and her daughters-in-law which she thought of as her daughters. Her great-grandchildren became the joy of her life and they affectionately called her “G.G.”. She will be fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. A graveside service for Cora will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023. Pastor Byron Williamson from Calvary Baptist Church in Rosenberg will officiate.
