Obituary of Kevin Michael Wert

Kevin Michael Wert, 58, of Alvin passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Rayfield Kenneth Wert. Left to cherish the memories of Kevin are his wife of 28 years, Dorthea “Dot” Wert; mother, Marie Claudell Wert; sons, John Allen Rihaly and Ray Anthony Perez and wife, Lindsay; brother, Tony Wert; sisters, Stacey Hood and husband, Chris and Leslie Donovan; grandchild, Maximus Perez as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. Kevin was a very kindhearted and charitable man who was very crafty with his hands. He was an exceptional wood worker who made sturdy outdoor furniture that would last a lifetime. Kevin was employed by Alvin Community College as an instructor. He was sharing his knowledge gained from a lifetime of being a Machinist. He was dedicated to sharing his skills with a new generation of students, and often helped them after training to secure jobs in the industry. Doing for others was one of Kevin’s greatest attributes. Kevin was outgoing, and easily made friends with everyone, especially on his travels. One of his greatest joys was traveling with his wife, Dot. He was always ready to sail the high seas, as he loved to take cruises. His favorite place on Earth, which they frequented as often as they could, was Cabo San Lucas. Relaxing and hosting guests at his own beach house was one of Kevin’s favorite pastimes. He enjoyed going out scavenging at the beach and sharing everything he found. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, and gardening and exotic plants. He turned his own backyard into a tropical getaway. He loved his poker friends, and he and Dot enjoyed countless nights socializing, playing cards, and telling stories. His joy of life and sense of adventure will always be remembered in the hearts of those he loved. In lieu of flowers, the family of Kevin Michael Wert has asked that donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, at www.pancan.org/donate. A cure for this devastating disease would be the greatest gift. A celebration of life for Kevin Michael Wert will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020, at Clayton Funeral Chapel, 5530 W Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Family will receive visitors starting at 5:00 PM, with a Service beginning at 6:00 PM. John Mark Benson will officiate, and a light reception will follow.
