Obituary of Phillip Goodwin

Phillip Lane Goodwin, 82 of Pearland, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ester Goodwin; and his first wife, Alice Goodwin. He is survived by his wife Norma Goodwin; daughters, Laura Austin and husband Rob, and Joan Wilsey and husband Chad; grandchildren, Jake Barton, Stefani Barton, Payton Wilsey, Shaun Austin and Kirstie Austin; brothers, Bill Goodwin and wife Genie, and Dex Goodwin and wife Helen; stepsons, Hal Anderson and wife Sharon, Greg Anderson and wife Donna, Chris Anderson and wife Cindy, Dennis Anderson and wife Pam, Tim Anderson and wife Tricia; stepdaughter, Diane Anderson Stinson; seventeen step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren and a host of many other family and friends. Phillip served his country as a mail carrier in the U.S. Navy when he enlisted at 16 years old. He was an avid Houston Astros fan and loved all sports. He enjoyed golfing for many years and became quite good and carried a very low handicap. Phillip was a very good provider and loving husband. After losing his first wife Alice in 1991, he volunteered his time at the hospital. It was there that he met and later married Norma in 1993. Their blended family grew and he shared his love with everyone. He was affectionately known as “Jau Jau” to his grandchildren. Phillip loved his family very much and had a wonderful sense of humor and would flirt with all the nurses at the hospital. He loved his little dog “Precious” and always looked forward to their walks together. His family meant everything to him and he made sure everyone knew they were loved. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation will take place at Clayton Funeral Home at 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581 on Wednesday, September 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening with a 7:00 pm Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church at 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, TX 77581 at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 23, 2010.
