Obituary of Flora Ann Counts

Flora Ann (Flo Ann) Counts, 88, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Fern Hawkins; her loving husband of 68 years, James C. Counts; daughter, Rebecca Lucile Counts; and brother, David Hawkins. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeff Counts and wife, Ruby; daughter, Ann Counts McNeill and husband, David; grandchildren, Richard, Daniel, Patrick, Christy and Joshua; great grandchildren, Jayce, Layne, Jared, Siena, Alexis, James, Kylie and Courtney; and a host of other family and dear friends. Flo Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that truly had a servant’s heart. She was strong in her faith and an active member of La Porte Community Church for many years. Flo Ann taught the Friendship Sunday School Class, was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship, assisted every year with Vacation Bible School and was secretary of the church office for many years. She served as an Elder of her church, was a member of the Stephen’s Ministry Team and a Bethel Leader. Flo Ann believed strongly in giving back to her community and was the head of the volunteer program for the Ronald McDonald House for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the La Porte Garden Club. Flo Ann loved her family and cherished spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Visitation for Flo Ann will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 South 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas 77571. The graveside service will take place Friday, June 19, 2020 at 10:00 am at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, Texas 77505 with Rev. Brian Cristen officiating. A memorial service will follow the graveside at La Porte Community Church.
