Mary Treadway Shatto, 94, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 19, 1916. She is preceded in death by her first husband, William McIntyre Stanford and second husband, Alf P. Shatto, Jr. Mary is survived by her two sons, John Paul Stanford and wife, Gail and William M. (Bill) Stanford and wife Mary and stepson Alf P. Shatto III and wife, Kathy; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mary was a trailblazer in her younger years; accomplishing many things that most women did not think they could accomplish. She was also the first female stockbroker from Houston on the New York Stock Exchange. Mary was a professional singer and at one time was a soloist at First United Methodist Church downtown. She was the owner of a fishing camp in Port Isabel, Texas. Later she was the office manager for SHW Group, Architects. Widowed as a young woman, Mary raised her sons for nineteen years as a single mom before marrying Alf Shatto, Jr. Visitation for friends and family will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010 beginning at 9:30 am at Cypress United Methodist Church at 13403 Cypress North Houston Road, Cypress, Texas 77429. Funeral services will follow beginning at 11:00 am with Rev. Harold Knolls officiating. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Stanford, William Stanford, Alfred Shatto IV and Christopher Shatto, Gary Jedlicka and Justin Stanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Cary Shatto, Jim Heister, Les Swanson, Tom Bruce and Colby Stanford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund at First United Methodist Church of Pearland at http://fumcpearland.org. A special thanks to Laura Powell and the staff for all their love and support at Grace Care Center of Cypress.
