Obituary
Obituary of Richard Dean Larson
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard “Dick” Dean Larson was born in Eagle Grove Iowa on March 16, 1938 to Lars B. and Hazel Larson. He had 4 older brothers and 5 older sisters and one younger sister.
In 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Wauneta Possehl and they had 3 children together, Mark, Deanna and Eric. Early in their marriage, he served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic.
Dick worked at Crosley and Buoy (later Crosley and Foster) for nearly 20 years before they all landed in Pearland, TX where Richard continued his work in the Title business and enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
Richard later re-married who he referred to as his soulmate, the love of his life: Martha (Marti) Hairston. Martha had 5 grown children at this time: 3 daughters Jeri, Jackie and Holly and 2 sons, Matt and Jeffrey. Richard and Marti moved to Pearland and enjoyed the rest of his life together. Richard had quite an extensive wood-working shop and made some amazing things! They used to joke that they were so much alike they must be kin. They enjoyed cooking, traveling, watching movies and just being together. They enjoyed spending time with the blended family. They shared a special love, the kind everyone hopes to have. Martha dedicated her life to making Richard comfortable. She would tell him all the time “Your job is to hold down your recliner!” and he did that well, especially during football season!
Richard and Marti were married 23 beautiful years and were just a few days shy of their 24th anniversary.
Richard went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 3 at 10:58 p.m. at his home with his wife Marti at his side.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Marti, his children Mark and his wife Jeri, Deanna and her husband Randy, Eric, Matt, Holly and her husband Danny, 14 grandchildren and 23
great-grandchildren. He will eventually be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery.
Everyone in the family called him Pop or Poppy. We will miss you more than words can express Poppy. We can’t imagine a world without out you, but we are comforted knowing you are in the arms of Jesus.
