Bobby Gene Mitchell, 63, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents James Edward Mitchell and Louise Rachel Reeves; and brother Billy Wayne Mitchell. He has survived by his wife of 28 years Debbie Calvit; son Gilly Calvit; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Louis and Rose Cristanelli of Alvin; brother Eddie Mitchell and his wife Cindy of Brunswick, Georgia; and three brothers Jerry, Danny and Terry Mitchell all of Galveston. His cousin Doris Bryant and her husband Jimmy came from Atlanta, Georgia to spend the last two months of Bobby’s life with him.
Bobby was born in Atlanta Georgia on June 16, 1947. Bobby and his wife Debbie have been soul mates for 28 wonderful years. He enjoyed collecting pictures, posters and movie memorabilia for the past 30 years. Bobby was a truly unique individual that never met a stranger. He was the epitome of an American entrepreneur. Bobby had a wonderful sense of humor and his dry wit will forever be remembered by all that knew and loved him. As a young man Jimmy nicknamed him “Bobcat’’. Bobby became a Christian about 10 years ago and it changed his life. He had a very strong Christian faith. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Debbie would like to extend a special thank you to Jimmy, Doris and Rose for all their endless love and support through this difficult time. She would also like to thank Bobby’s brother in Christ, Mike McClain for always being available to lend an ear, sit by a hospital bed or to offer prayers.
The Memorial service will be held on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at New Harvest Church at 12216 Broadway St., Pearland, TX 77584-7823 with Pastor Keith Anderson officiating.
