Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martin “Corky” Vernon Atchison Jr. earned his wings and went home to Jesus on September 20, 2020 at age 65. Corky is preceded in death by his parents Martin Vernon Atchison Sr., Andra Atchison and Lorraine Evangeline. Corky was born on November 8, 1954 in Denton County, TX. He grew up with three sisters (Jeanie Ming, Peggy Barkley, Kathy Bentley) in the small town of Harlingen, TX. Years later, God reconnected him with his biological mother, Lorraine Evangeline, siblings Mark Evangeline, Helen Evangeline Brown, Cindy Evangeline Allen, and Dimitri Evangeline. Corky met his wife, Cynthia Atchison in February of 1976. They married October 09, 1976 in Houston, TX and went on to raise two children: Staci and Martin III at their home in in Sugar Land, TX. Corky was a successful Engineer & Entrepreneur, opening and successfully running MV Atchison & Associates, LLC for over 30 years. He was a loyal University of Houston Cougar, and would often be seen mentoring younger generations’ leaders at many times during his career. In his free time, he made precious memories fishing on the Texas Gulf Coast, hunting waterfowl across the country, and always enjoyed playing a round of golf no matter the location. As busy as he was, Corky always had time to entertain family and friends, to which he shared his love for food and beverage. Corky was an accomplished professional, a loyal friend, a well-loved husband, and a heart-felt father and grandfather. Corky’s legacy includes Staci (Brandon) Franklin, and Martin III (Heather) Atchison; grandchildren Azmara Franklin, Haden Atchison, Grace Atchison, Trinity Franklin, Colt Atchison, and Mariah Franklin. In lieu of flowers my dad requested donations be made to St. Jude Hospital supporting the care of children battling cancer at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family’s home on October 17, 2020. Lunch will be served at 1:00pm. 223 Swordfish Ln Freeport, TX 77541
