Obituary of Jewell Bunch

Jewell Clark Bunch, age 87, passed away after a short illness on June 1, 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie & Edna (Neel) Clark; and husband, Warren S. Bunch. She is survived by her son, Bruce Bunch; daughter, Patricia George & her husband Dewitt; grandchildren Kimberly Hokanson & her husband Kris and Christopher George; great-grandchild, Makena Hokanson; and a host of many other family and friends. Jewell was born on September 30, 1921 in Shuqualak, Mississippi, the youngest of eight children. She moved to Houston in 1947 and married Warren in 1948. In 1965, they settled in Pearland. Jewell had a fulfilling career in nursing for 35 years at M.D. Anderson Medical Hospital. She would often inspire many acquaintances to also pursue this career path. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Jewell seized any opportunity to travel or attend social events. She loved knitting, cross-stitching, reading, canning and making preserves. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye and she idolized her great-granddaughter, Makena. She will be fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her throughout the years. Jewell’s family will be receiving friends on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 9:00 am in the Clayton Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 am. Dr. Rev. Bob Joiner will be officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
