Dora Nidia Cantu passed away Friday, January 1, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father, Apolinar Martinez; brothers, Hipolito Martinez, Juan Jose Martinez; and sister, Minerva Martinez Gonzalez. Left to cherish Dora’s memory are her mother, Trinidad Sanchez Martinez; loving husband, of 39 years, Daniel Cantu; daughters, Karyna Cantu-Zuniga, Danielle Cantu Gutierrez and husband, Jonathan; brothers, Saul Martinez, Hector Martinez, Cesar Martinez, Miguel Martinez; sisters, Carolina Martinez de Ortega, Sylvia Martinez de Castilleja, Enedelia Martinez Chavana, Hilda Martinez Cantu; grandchildren, Devyn Zuniga, Jayden Zuniga, and a host of other dear family and friends.
Dora was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She doted on her grandchildren and loved them beyond measure. Dora’s smile and attitude would light up a room. Her energy and passion for life were contagious and she was always the life of the party. She and Daniel were karaoke partners and sang many duets together. Dora loved to travel. She visited many cities in Canada, Mexico and Spain. Her favorite place to visit was always Vegas next to New York and Cancun. Dora loved the beach. She loved the sound of the waves and the feeling of sand between her toes. Spending time there brought her so much peace and tranquility. Dora was selfless, generous and kind to everyone. She always thought about others before herself. She worked in the banking industry for 40 years and held many positions with Bank of America and Chase Bank. Prior to joining Chase as the Community Reinvestment Community Partnerships Relationship Officer she was a VP of Mortgage Lending with Bank of America. Dora met many people and helped many customers during her lifetime. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
