Lillian Fornes Walker, 101, passed away on October 6, 2010. She was born to George and Crystal Fornes in Westfield, Illinois on October 26, 1908. Lillian is preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Schwarz in 1970, Lester Zwally in 1990, and William Walker in 2006. She is survived by her son, Ray Schwarz and wife Marion; brothers, Victor Fornes and wife Helen, and George Fornes; sisters, Irene Ufheil and Marie Snyder and a host of many other family and friends Lillian was very healthy for most of her life and in her early years enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home. She enjoyed her independence and loved going out to dinner. Lillian had thirty years of service with the government, where she was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service medal in 1947. She was privileged to have met the Wright Brothers and Howard Hughes while working for General Franklin Carroll, for whom she served as executive secretary for fifteen years, at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Lillian also met all of the crew that fitted the Enola Gay with the atomic bomb at Wright Field. Lillian saw many changes in her life and shared this history only when asked.
