Myrtie Marie Andrews 94 passed away Thursday January 28. She is preceded in death by her parents, Trayton and Roxanne Golden, husband; Dudley L. Andrews, and ten siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Herschell Andrews, and Craig Andrews and wife Stephanie, daughters; Vivian A. Pyle and husband Bill and Cynthia Birotte, grandchildren; Kimberley, Carolyn, Matthew, Mark, Kelsie, Shelbye, Austin and Todd, great-grandchildren; Simon, Nathaniel, Lucy, Emma, Wesley, Serena, Ryan, Azlynn, Lena, Isaac, and Jed and a host of other family and friends. Marie's primary focus in life was to serve God. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lomax from 1963 till the time of her death. She served in various roles at the church including Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. Her family and church family were also very important to her. She was a great cook and baking was her specialty. She loved to cook and shared that love by cooking for others. Marie was also an excellent seamstress. She was an avid crocheter, making items for preemies and cancer patients at M.D. Anderson Hospital. Marie had a special love for gardening and could talk about the subject incessantly. She was knowledgeable about any kind of plant. She was a lifetime subscriber of the Texas Gardener Magazine since its inception in 1981. In 2015 she was featured in an article on octogenarian gardeners. Marie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services for Marie will be, Visitation; Friday February 5th 6-8 PM at the Clayton Funeral Home 201 S 3rd LaPorte Funeral service will be Saturday February 6 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Lomax, 11303 North H St. LaPorte.
