Obituary of Mar-Teena Harris

Mar-Teena Celeste Harris, passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2008. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Annie Lee Justice and Artis Powell. She is survived by her husband Cory Harris; parents, Glenn & Sissy Powell; parents-in-law, John & Vicki “Ray” Harris; grandparents, Mattie Powell and Aaron Justice Sr.; sister, Tabitha Powell; other relatives and a host of friends. Teena was born on July 4, 1982, in Pinkneyville, Illinois. She grew up in the Church of Christ where she exercised her very strong faith and was involved in many of the youth activities. She was a gifted athlete and participated in sports throughout her years at Clear Brook High School. She was voted “Most Athletic” numerous times with her teams. Teena was also a talented musician and played the trumpet in the Clear Brook High School Band. Her love and talent of basketball was shared while coaching the Girls BABA Basketball League. When Teena met Cory Harris it was love at first sight. Their initial date was an oil change at Walmart. They were married on March 3, 2006 in Pasadena, Texas. They were devoted Houston Rockets fans and enjoyed attending games together. Teena attended Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida where she graduated with an Associates Degree. She was a substitute teacher and tutor in the La Port School district. She was currently working towards her teaching degree in education. Teena was the light of Cory’s life and was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Visitation for Teena will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Clayton Funeral Home. The funeral service is at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2008 at Southside Church of Christ, 4110 Preston Avenue, Pasadena, Texas 77505, 281-998-8184. Bubba Garner and Dee Bowman will be officiating.
