Taraiz Qubty Karafa, 71, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021. Taraiz was born the eldest of 7 children to Yosef and Wadad Qubty. She was born in Nazareth, the hometown of our Lord and Our Lady. Taraiz felt special having grown up there. Her faith was always especially important to her and she had a great love of God and devotion to Our Lady. Taraiz had a large family and loved spending time with them. Her family was her life, she would do anything for them. She adored her nieces and nephews and doted on them when they visited. In 1968, at the age of 17, Taraiz came to Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. Her uncle Jamil welcomed her, and she had a beautiful relationship with him. Taraiz loved people, being around people made her happy. She never met a stranger and once you knew her you were her friend for life. Taraiz met the “Sweet Magnolias” over 40 years ago in Bible study. They forged a wonderful friendship full of love and laughter. A friendship Taraiz always treasured. Taraiz was known to be stubborn and strong willed, it was her way or the highway. She liked to be in control of every situation so it would be done right. Taraiz was strong and confident in everything she did because her husband of 48 years, Bob, supported her. His love and devotion were truly the wind beneath her wings. Taraiz loved food. To her food was love and made up the best parts of life. Her mission was feeding people and bringing them joy through food. Taraiz ran a restaurant and catering business for over 35 years. Taraiz adored her family. She was enormously proud of her two daughters and often told others about them. Spending time with her grandchildren were some of her greatest joys and memories. Taraiz adored Nicole's dog, Zero, who brought her great joy. She was the one and only Taraiz. There will never be another one like her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
