Obituary of Harry Riley Griffith

Harry Riley Griffith, 72, passed away November 11, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elizabeth Griffith ; and brother, Ike Lewis Griffith. Harry is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Mary Griffith; sons, Michael “Sam” Griffith, Harry “Greg” Griffith, and Howard “Todd” Griffith; daughters, Tammy Lynn Bright and husband, David, Pamela Louise Akers and husband Paul, and Kathy Shoemaker; special niece Dee Dee; sisters, Clara “Sue” Baker, Doris Lou Shoemaker and husband, Charles, Pauline Dorothy Todd and husband, Commodore, Polly Ann Underwood and husband, Vernon, and Sandra Faye Wright and husband, Sam; grandchildren, Dillon Griffith, Riley Griffith, Derrick Akers, Austin Akers, Brandon Bright, Marrissa Bright, Andrea Donahue, Lindsay Prowse, and Hunter Prowse ; and a host of many other family and friends.
Harry was an ironworker by profession for 35 years. He was a horseman that raised and rode horses throughout his life. Harry was a good provider for his family and always made sure his family had what they needed. He raised his children to be good upstanding citizens. Harry always looked out for his family. He courageously battled with poor health for over twenty years and never complained. Harry was a great example of how to be a father and his grandchildren will always have fond memories of their Pa Pa. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
The family will have a memorial service in West Virginia at a later date. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Rod Shoemaker for helping to bring Harry to Texas.
