Obituary of Romona Jo Gadberry

Romona Gadberry 92, passed Sunday September 5th, she is preceded in death by her husband; Henry Raymond Gadberry, son; Henry Ray Gadberry Jr, sister; Garland Jones, left to cherish her memory are her son; Calvin Gadberry and wife Dawn, sister; Geraldine Atchley, grandchildren; C. J. and Sarah, great grandchildren; Addie and Aubrey, and a host of other family and friends. If you’ve lived in LaPorte for a while you probably remember the smile of Romona at the Sweet Shop or the Western Union office. Romona was a kindhearted, hard, working woman. She was the woman every leader of volunteers longed to have beside them. If there was something going on at the church, Romona was there to help. Romona helped with the Food Pantry, Nursery and Daycare at Bayshore Baptist Church. She was very active in the church and loved her church and Sunday School Class. She was one of the original volunteers at the Seafarer’s Center in Morgans Point. She drove the van to transport seafarers and worked tirelessly there until she retired. Romona was the type of person that knew where she stood, and you never had to worry about where you stood with her. Romona loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved talking about them. She loved her son and always supported him in his athletic events. She also enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their swim meets. Romona spent her pass time crafting, quilting, and making jewelry. She loved making things to give to others. Romona will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
