Obituary
Obituary of Marie Wilson George
Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rose Marie “Marie” Wilson George was born on March 16, 1934. She grew up as one of eleven children of parents Veronica Charlotte Stire Wilson and Arthur Earle Wilson in Clinton, Louisiana. She was known as “Ree-Tee” by her brothers and sisters, a fun family who had nicknames for everyone. Marie played basketball in high school and after graduation she proudly worked as the assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in Baton Rouge. She married Burnell George and moved to Houston to start her own family.)
Marie is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Arthur Earle Wilson, Jr., James Ingraham Wilson (“Pete”), Daniel Stire Wilson, Charles Vernon Wilson, William Henry Wilson, Gloria Fay Wilson, Julia Florestine Wilson (“Flo”), Doris Ann Wilson, and Veronica Joyce Wilson, and husband Burnell.
Marie is survived by her sister Mary Alice Wilson, daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Jimmy Brown, son James George, grandchildren Jimmy and Tanya Brown and Jessica Brown, and great-grandchildren Gisele and Sage Wilson.
Marie was a ray of sunshine whose contagious cackle made everyone smile. She was famous for her pecan pie, gumbo, and she only served biscuits from scratch. She did it all. She worked full time, always cooked the best home-cooked meals, and still had time to sew her own suits.
She was in the stands cheering at every one of Jimmy’s baseball games, and she was one of the biggest fans of the Pearland Marching Band. She had a sincere compliment for everyone she met, always leaving people brighter than when she found them.
Marie died peacefully on September 9, 2021.
