Obituary of William Louis Ivey

William Louis Ivey, 72, passed away Friday September 10, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon Atmer and Jimmie Dial Ivey. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Linda Smith Ivey; son Kevin Louis Ivey and wife Misty; daughter Jennifer Ruth Ivey; sister Linda Chain; sister-in-law Marjorie Faulkenberry; grandchildren Emma, Amy, and Conner, and a host of other family and friends. After graduating from LaPorte High School Louis studied Aviation at San Jacinto College. His first solo flight was in a Cessna, flying out of the LaPorte Airport. After finishing aviation school, Louis spent four years serving his country in the United States Coast Guard. During his service he was stationed in San Francisco, New York, and New Jersey on rescue boats. He ended his tour in Freeport, Texas on the 82- foot cutter, Point Monroe. He absolutely loved being out on the water and relished the beauty of the sea. Louis cherished his family and was always doting on his three grandchildren. In his spare time, he loved to fish, duck hunt, and just be on the water in his boat. Louis enjoyed collecting vintage fishing lures. He also had a love for photography and Japanese Dragons. Louis will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 17, from 12:00 to 2:00, in the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel, 201 S 3rd, LaPorte, Texas.
