Michael (Mike) Gibson Yeates passed away peacefully on September 13, 2021, at the age of 77.
Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Born June 13, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas, Mike grew up exploring the outdoors of East Texas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University and served in the U.S. Army. It was in Houston that he met his beloved wife, Kathy. Together, they raised their family in Pearland.
Mike’s great passion was music. He was a prolific songwriter and loved picking up his guitar and singing a song whenever and wherever. Mike played music with his beloved Guitar Circle family for nearly 20 years and enjoyed teaching other veterans how to play guitar at the local veteran’s center. He was known for his patience, calm demeanor, and his loyal friendship.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Kathy; children Paul [Heather] and Megan [Damon]; grandchildren Keagen, Paxton, and Juniper; brothers Don and Bill; and his many friends and family members.
A celebration of his life will be announced in the coming weeks.
