Obituary of LeRoy Werner Melinder

LeRoy Werner Melinder passed away Friday, October 1, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Vera Melinder; son Paul Melinder; brother Steve Melinder; and sister Sherrie Melinder. Left to cherish LeRoy’s memory are his loving wife, of 61 years, Felicitas Melinder; sons Jimmie Melinder and wife, Toni, Paul’s wife, Elizabeth, Robbie Melinder and wife, Mary, Tony Melinder and wife, Kim; brother Arthur Melinder and wife, Patty; sisters Carol Wesson and husband, Carl, Christina Melinder; Eleven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and a host of other dear family and friends. LeRoy, or Pawpaw as his grandchildren affectionately knew him, was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. You could always depend on him to lend you a helping hand. While spending time with his family was especially important to LeRoy, the other great love of his life was music. LeRoy played the trumpet professionally for more than 50 years and was the sole proprietor of LeRoy Music Company for 30 years. In his leisure time LeRoy was an avid competitor who participated in many years of bowling league play. Later in life, he found a new passion in the game of Golf. Within 5 years LeRoy had cut his handicap down to single digits. To relax, LeRoy loved to spend time on the water with his family or go on long road trips. Within the Country Place community LeRoy was very active as a board member, committee member, and the official photographer. LeRoy’s cheerful disposition and joy for life will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
