Obituary of Tommie L. Whitworth

Tommie Lea Whitworth, a life long resident of Clear Lake passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Irma Hill; her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph T. Whitworth Jr.; and sister, Irma Jean Miller. Tommie is survived by her sons, Joseph T. Whitworth III, Stephen T. Whitworth and his wife Cathy, and William H. Whitworth; grandchildren Stephanie Sparks and her husband James, Brandye Whitworth, and Lauren Whitworth; great grandchildren, Travis Sparks and Stella Sparks; her best friend, Brenda Ham; and a host of many other family and friends.
Tommie was a devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother that cherished the times she got to spend with her family. Her infectious laugh and humorous personality will forever be remembered. Tommie was an avid sports fan. She was a huge supporter of the Texas A & M Aggies, the Houston Rockets, and any sport that her sons or grandchildren were involved in. Tommie was known as the “Ultimate Fan” throughout Clear Lake and could be found supporting all the local teams.
Tommie was a beloved member of the League City Eastern Star Chapter 621. She also spent time volunteering at Clear Lake Hospital with the Women’s Auxiliary. Tommie will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Tommie’s honor to the Clear Creek Education Foundation at PO Box 1631, League City, Texas 77574.
