Obituary of Jose Ramirez
Please share a memory of Jose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jose Ramirez, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bartolo and Guadalupe Ramirez; former wife, Eva Ramirez; daughters, Sylvia Ramirez and Maria Irene Granado; brothers, Daniel Ramirez, Juan Ramirez, Pablo Ramirez, Albino Ramirez, and Juanito Ramirez; and sister, Maria Teresa Mata. Jose is survived by his sons, Joe Ramirez and his wife Barbara, and Robert Ramirez and his wife, Linda; daughters, Maria Elena Baxley and her husband James, and Leila Kelly and her husband Kevin Thomas Sr.; sister, Esperanza Vilano; son-in-law, Luis Granado; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of many of other family and friends.
Jose was a nurseryman by trade and loved being outdoors. He put a high importance on family and took great pride in providing for his children throughout his life; even at times taking extra jobs to provide for them. Jose was a role model to everyone who knew him and set the example for how one should live their life. He was affectionately known as “Rito” to his family back in Mexico and was known fondly as Granddad, Grand pa, and Pe Pa to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of his favorite memories were of working on his land down in the valley. Jose had the wonderful ability to make friends and was an excellent story-teller. His wisdom far outweighed his formal education. Jose was an inspiration to his family and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Visitation for Jose will be at Clayton Funeral Home on Friday, January 07, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm recited by Deacon Darvin Bordelon. The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Clayton Funeral Home at 1 pm with Rev. Kevin Collins of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating.
