Obituary of Risikat Awoniyi

Risikat Anike Awoniyi was born on June 16, 1950, in Lagos, Nigeria. She passed away on March 19, 2022, in Houston, Texas. Full of compassion, Anike always put everyone else’s needs before her own. She was selfless. These were wonderful traits that served Anike well in her career as a nurse. She was extremely nurturing and passionate about her nursing profession. No matter the circumstance, Anike always did her best to make sure everyone was alright and felt noticed. She knew how to make people feel comfortable. Anike was a happy, energetic soul that always made sure to brighten up the days of people around her. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was devoted to her family. Anike was attentive and loyal. She liked a clean environment, and she kept her home very neat. She cherished her grandchildren. Her jovial nature and wonderful storytelling abilities were always a hit! Anike was also a shrewd businesswoman who knew how to make every dollar she had go far. She loved to cook and eat spicy foods. She enjoyed traveling, learning about nature, and telling stories about the places she had been. More than anything Anike enjoyed the simple things in life, hanging out with friends and family and talking on the phone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Risikat is preceded in death by her father Olanrewaju Salami; mother Ashabi Adekoya; and loving husband Adebayo Awoniyi. She is survived by her daughters Kemi Ige, Toyin Akinrelere, Modupe Ojo, Titi Awoniyi; one brother; three sisters; grandchildren Edward Ige, Sam Akinrelere, Dreyton Ige, Kayode Akinrelere, Moyin Ojo, Simi Ojo, Ayo Ojo, and a host of many other family and friends. Services for Risikat will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, in Pearland, Texas. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 -11:00 am. The funeral service wil be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Garden Cemetery, in Pearland, Texas.
