Eugene David Karstedt of Pearland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the age of 87. Eugene was born on February 14, 1935 in Rosenberg, Texas to Edward and Agatha “Aggie” Karstedt. He grew up in El Campo, Texas. Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 8 years, including being stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and moved to Pearland, Texas to raise his family. Left to cherish Eugene’s memory is his best friend and partner, Ms. Toni Del Castillo; his sister, Sr. Rosalie Ann Karstedt, CDP; his son Gordon Karstedt and wife Renee Fenwick Karstedt, his daughter Susan Karstedt Stahley and husband Jeff Stahley; his much-adored grandchildren: Lindsay Karstedt Meade and husband Justin Meade, Cody Karstedt, Katelyn Stahley, Corey Stahley and wife Heather Hika Stahley and 3 great grandchildren: Emilee, Michael and Zachary Meade. He is preceded in death by his loving parents and his late wife of 39 years Marie C. Karstedt. In his younger years, Eugene enjoyed camping with his friends and family. Later in life, he liked to go dancing and go on vacations with Toni. Eugene would often be spotted around town in his blue jeans and suspenders, something he rarely left the house without. He cherished his family and dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was extremely proud of them. Eugene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and their sincere appreciation to his loving caregivers Saida, Sophie and Trish who tirelessly and faithfully cared for Eugene during his final months. A private service for the family only will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, in Pearland, on Thursday, April 7, where he was an active parishioner for 56 years.
