Obituary of Arthur Donald Baldwin

Arthur “Art” Donald Baldwin, 85, passed away on February 19, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Jessie Baldwin. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Baldwin; son, Don Dean Baldwin and his wife Lois; daughter, Kathy Baldwin; brothers, Russell Baldwin and his wife Inez, and Roland Baldwin and his wife Jan; grandchildren Austin Baldwin and Daniel Baldwin; his loyal companion dog, “Sugar”; as well as a host of many other family and friends. Art began teaching school at the age of 16 in a little country school. He was a proud veteran that served in the Merchant Marines. Art went back to school and received his Bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska and later went on to earn his Masters degree from the Michigan State University. He worked for Exxon in Marine Operations up until his retirement. Art and Carolyn enjoyed traveling during their retirement, venturing to Europe, Hawaii, Canada, and Costa Rica. He loved cooking and especially baking. Art enjoyed the outdoors and had a green thumb when it came to gardening. He was a wonderful artist and enjoyed oil painting. Art also loved history and genealogy and studied and tracked his family history. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A memorial service for Art will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 3 pm at Clayton Funeral Home at 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Pastor Steven Lee of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Country Place Foundation at 3119 Flower Field Lane, Pearland, Texas 77584.
